Mission

Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters are master's programmes run by a consortium of higher education institutions. The Erasmus+ site says "Masters may also offer full scholarships to the best-ranked students worldwide" and that "Students from all over the world are welcome."

02

What you get

A scholarship holder receives 1,400 euros a month for the duration of the programme, up to 24 months. The Programme Guide says it "shall cover travel, visa, installation and subsistence costs," and that projects cannot charge scholarship holders tuition, mandatory participation costs or application fees. Insurance for enrolled students is covered separately through the consortium. Only the best-ranked students receive a scholarship. Courses last 1 to 2 academic years, or 60, 90 or 120 ECTS credits.

03

Who can apply

You need a bachelor's degree or to be in the last year of your bachelor's, and you must graduate before the master's starts. Each master adds its own conditions on language, grades and field. Students who already held an Erasmus Mundus scholarship cannot receive another.

04

What they look for

Each consortium selects, recruits and monitors its own students. The scholarship goes to the best-ranked applicants, and no more than 10% of a master's scholarships can go to candidates of the same nationality.

05

The fine print

The host countries listed on this page are the 33 Erasmus+ programme countries: the 27 EU Member States plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, North Macedonia, Serbia and Türkiye. Some masters also include universities in partner countries such as China, India or Japan. The catalogue lists 218 projects and is updated every year.
